it started with a handbag.

I have always loved handbags. I’m particular about caring for my collection, down to keeping the original boxes, receipts, and dust bags.

too big. too small. never quite right.

Over years of carrying bags large and small, I kept running into the same thing: finding the right pouch for my cosmetics and everything else I carry — pens, hand sanitizer, gum, you get it.

Like Goldilocks, one was too big, another too small, and the ones in between were bulky, clunky, snappy, or zippery — heavy when stuffed, noisy at exactly the wrong moment. Elegant and quiet was not on the market.

Years ago, I changed course and started using plastic bags instead. Slim and protective, but hardly elegant, and the closures still made noise. It solved most of it — but not all.

"You're too classy for a plastic bag"

One day, I received a note from an acquaintance who had sat behind me at an event. Enclosed with it was a gift — a small pouch with a zipper. That was the moment. I decided to design the pouch that would finally be just right. h. society is the result.

      the "h" is for Henry.

      the "h" is for Henry.

There’s another name behind the brand. My dad, Henry, of blessed memory, taught me about the finer things in life — quality over quantity — and, even more than that, about love, memory, and what really matters.

He ended every handwritten letter, birthday card, and postcard the same way: with the word REMEMBER, boxed in his own handwriting.

      what we choose to remember.

      what we choose to remember.

So for me, it’s not only about what I carry. It’s about what we hold onto — both literally and figuratively — and what we choose to remember.
